Anthony Stephens Assistant Editor and Senior Justice and Government Correspondent

 

Anthony Stephens is an award-wining journalist and lawyer. Anthony leads NN’s coverage of governance issues including Liberia’s establishment of a war and economics crimes court. His reporting appears in FrontPage Africa and Okay FM and on NN partner radio stations across the country. Anthony cohosts and produces Democracy in Focus, Liberia’s leading current affairs radio program and podcast. He also leads training of journalists on issues of transitional justice. Anthony’s coverage of justice took him to Switzerland to cover the trial of Alieu Kosiah, the first trial and conviction anywhere of a perpetrator of war crimes in Liberia’s civil wars. He also covered the trial of Kunti Kamara, convicted of war-related crimes in Paris, France in 2022.

With a professional career spanning 20 years, Anthony has worked for Power TV and FM, Star Radio and Radio Veritas. He was a fellow with New Narratives since 2015 until he joined teh team full time in 2022. Anthony has undergone training programs from the BBC, VOA and Thomson Reuters Foundation. He is a graduate of the Louis Arthur Grimes of Liberia at the University of Liberia. Anthony holds a BSc degree in Public Administration, graduating from the African Methodist Episcopal Zion University, A.M.E.Z.U in June 2017 with Magna Cum Laude.
