She has written for the The New York Times, Newsweek, the Financial Times, The Miami Herald, Forbes and Bloomberg News, among others. She has produced multimedia for NPR.org, WSJ.com, The Guardian and AOL News. Emily has reported from Mexico, Guatemala, Ecuador, Peru, Haiti and Jamaica, on themes ranging from the economy to drug violence. She holds a Master’s degree in Journalism from Columbia University with a speciality in business and economics reporting. She received her Bachelor’s in Spanish at Bard College in Annandale-on-Hudson, New York. She is the founder of La Voz, a Spanish-language monthly magazine.
